    (1) A+C=cos(tetha)
    (2) B+C=PI/4

    (1)-(2)=0=cos(tetha)-PI/4

    cos(tetha)=PI/4

  2. Area of quarter circle equals area of rectangle.

    So...

    (1/4)(pi)(r^2) = r*x ; x=(1/4)(pi)(r)

    x is the unknown width of the rectangle.

    cos(theta) = x/r or (1/4)(pi)(r)/r

    cancel r's out to get (1/4)pi or pi/4
