Fox 203

203 is a simple but really elegant problem from Newzad's blog.

  1. If we drew a circle with radius 1 and the same centre as that of the hexagon then we'd get 6 petals along the circumference exactly of the same area as the original petals and these along with the core would equal = π*(1)^2 = π
    Therefore, the original shaded area = π

  2. Yes. We should also state that semi-circles are divided into three equal arcs, therefore, each measuring 60 degres. Thus your equality.
