Let's continue to mess around with this configuration...

  1. Name ABCD from top left corner anticlockwise as b4. Let DU intersect with BC in E while F & G are the other two points on ED starting from E upwards. BC=DA=DU=3x & BE=x so EC=2x and AB=2√3x. Hence tan(α/2)= √3x/2x = √3/2 so cos(α/2) = 2/√7 or cos(α) = 2(4/7) - 1 = 1/7
