The distance between the point the top brick touches to the wall, and the top-right corner of the bottom-brick is 3.

triangle ABC

AB=sqrt(a^2-1)

AC=a

BC=1

triangle PCD

PC=b

CD=b-1

PD=3

triangle PEF

PE=sqrt(a^2-1)

PF=a

FE=1

triangles ABC and PEF are congruent

triangles ABC and PCD are similar.

AB/CD=AC/CP=BC/DP

sqrt(a^2-1)/(b-1)=a/b=1/3

solving....

we get

a=5/3

sqrt(a^2-1)=4/3

so

h=5/3+3+4/3=6

option 1 is correct.
